Creating landmarks

At Highlands, a residential estate, the task was to create a memorable entrance near their sales centre, café, car park and playground.

We collaborated with MDG to design a series of stand-alone, structural steel red frames on two corners, creating an optical illusion of book pages opening up, revealing the lake, fountain and community beyond.

To also help create the feel of entry and arrival, we built a row of enormous Gabion stone towers by filling steel cages with stone, and having them lit at night to create a grand entrance.

Such was the success of the new gabions we also retrofitted the gabion towers on the other side of the road to match
