Community Gardens is located on a busy road entry point to the Campus and signals the formal arrival point for visitors. The Gardens combine facilities and spaces providing passive and active opportunities for the local and university communities to enjoy together.
This project was awarded a Landscape Architecture Award for Health & Education Landscapes by AILA Queensland Awards in 2020.
Included is a sheltered meeting place with amenities and picnic facilities, sandstone terrace seating, arbour, productive vegetable garden beds and adjoining work shed arranged around a green open space defined by an oval shaped water feature.
Local sandstone and timber provide the accents in the materials pallet. Our tradesmen did the rest. Sandstone features in the terraced seating walls and the crazy paving around and under the shelter.
