Beware of the [Bronze] Crocodile

Crocodile Park in Saltwater Estate needed to be sensitively embedded adjacent to an internationally protected wetlands system.

The splashpad and water play park features a 5 metre feature bronze crocodile who shoots water into a series of larger and smaller concrete rapids. The last concrete rapid was designed after watching how water flows over sand at the beach.

Kids can run through, explore and do boat races, tracing the water from one point to another through the undulating concrete just like ripples in the sand. Collaborative approach with TRACT, to design how the crocodile would work in terms of hydraulics.

The custom timber playground features a large play tower that boasts two 9m stainless steel slides, musical play elements and an amphitheatre and stage with power for community bands, events and concerts.

The many kilometres of boardwalks and parks paths are dotted with seating nodes, viewing platforms, shelters and BBQs, with fitness stations and drinking fountains.
