A blast from the past
Jack’s Magazine was built in the 1870s as a storage facility for gunpowder on its way to the Victorian goldfields. The site is where the ships used to come in and unload the munitions.
When Lend Lease took it over and built the Edgewater community, Naturform created spaces throughout the site with landings for seats, viewing decks and staircases that come right down to the Maribyrnong River with shared paths along the water’s edge. Jack’s Magazine is on the Victorian Heritage Register and recognised for its architectural, historical and technological significance.
